Thailand – Ko Lanta

Ko Lanta was a very relaxing island, with fewer young backpackers looking to party and more families. The place is very popular with Swedes, and again we didn’t meet many American travelers here. Things were also less expensive than Phuket and Ko Phi Phi (though everywhere in Thailand is cheap by US standards).

The island scenery wasn’t epic like Ko Phi Phi (no dramatic bays or big cliffs) but that was ok. At least the water was clear and clean!

Our two days here were spent lounging on the beach, swimming a bit and then lounging on the again!  There was plenty of vegetarian food to be had, and of course a lot of fruit and fruit shakes (fruit blended with ice).

From Ko Lanta we caught a two hour shuttle bus (that drove on and off two different ferries) to an airport in Krabi, Thailand.

Our next stop, Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand located in the lush green hills up north. Elephant country!
